More Than a Retirement: Celebrating Jay’s Lasting Legacy

There are some messages that feel more like chapters than announcements. This is one of them.
Quite a while ago, Jay shared with me that he was planning toward retirement. At the time, I listened, nodded, and then quietly decided my strategy was simple: keep him with us for as long as we possibly could. We’ve been fortunate to do exactly that. Now, with his retirement set for the first week of December, it feels like the right time to share more openly about what this means, and what Jay has meant to Intuitive and to me.
Jay’s story with Intuitive didn’t start with an offer letter. It started on the client side of the table.
Before he ever had an Intuitive email address, he was someone we respected: a thoughtful partner, a steady presence, and a person who cared about doing things the right way. When the opportunity came for him to join Intuitive three years ago, it felt less like a hire and more like welcoming in someone who already understood our heartbeat.
What we gained was far more than experience on a résumé. We gained a mentor, a coach, a colleague, a leader, and a friend.
Jay has this rare combination of deep experience and genuine heart. He shows up with care. He listens without rushing to respond. He asks good questions. And when things get noisy, complex, or downright chaotic, he has a way of settling the storm, bringing everything and everyone back to calm and clarity.
If you know me, you know I move fast. I carry a lot. I care deeply. Watching Jay navigate intensity with such steady, grounded calm has given this “cool, calm, and collected” version of myself something real to aim for. He hasn’t just helped us through tough moments; he’s modeled a way of leading in them.
Across his time here, Jay has:
Built and strengthened relationships with clients who trust him not just for what he knows, but for how he shows up
Spent time mentoring and supporting our team, investing in people as much as in outcomes
Helped shape the culture we are so proud of at Intuitive, the way we care, the way we communicate, and the way we stand by our partners
His fingerprints are woven into how we operate and how we show up. Even as he steps into retirement, that part of his legacy isn’t going anywhere.
There’s also a side of this story that is deeply human: Jay’s family.
As much as we might joke about keeping him here forever, the truth is that he has an amazing family and some very important grandkids who are ready for more “Grandpa time.” The decision to retire isn’t about stepping away from something; it’s about stepping fully into the next chapter with the people who matter most to him. I love that for him.
So what happens next?
From now through his retirement date in early December, our focus is threefold:
To celebrate Jay and honor the difference he has made, to our clients, our team, and to me
To ensure thoughtful transitions anywhere Jay has been directly involved, so that our clients feel supported and confident in what’s ahead
To continue showing up every day with the same level of partnership, care, and commitment that Jay has helped us build
If you work with Jay or know him through Intuitive, you’ll likely have opportunities to connect with him, to say thank you, and to reflect on the chapter you’ve shared. We’ll be intentional about those moments.
For me personally, this is a mix of emotions: gratitude, sadness, pride, and a lot of appreciation.
Gratitude that we had the chance to bring Jay into Intuitive and to learn from him. Sadness that our everyday rhythm together is changing. Pride in the example he has set for what steady, heart-centered leadership can look like. And appreciation for the way he has cared, the way he has led, and the way he has helped shape this company.
Jay, if you’re reading this: thank you. Thank you for the trust you placed in Intuitive. Thank you for the calm you brought into the craziest storms. Thank you for the way you have mentored, guided, and encouraged so many of us, including me.
I am going to miss working alongside you every day. And I am also cheering loudly for this next chapter with your family.
What a gift it has been to have you as part of this journey.
Cheers!
Betsy
