Why Direct Hire Is Some of My Favorite Work We Do at Intuitive

I started my career as a recruiter, and after all these years, there is still a part of this work that I absolutely love.

It is the moment when it clicks.

When a client meets a candidate and thinks, This is our person. And when that same candidate walks away thinking, This is where I want to be.

That match has always been my favorite part of recruiting. And as Direct Hire has become an increasingly important part of our business at Intuitive Technology Group, I have found myself more energized by it than ever.

Because when Direct Hire is done well, it is about so much more than filling a position.

The Job Description Is Just the Beginning

When a client trusts us with a Direct Hire search, our first step is not to immediately start looking for candidates.

We start by getting curious.

Why does this role exist? What does this person really need to accomplish? What is happening within the business right now? What kind of leader will they work for? What makes someone thrive on this team, and just as importantly, what might make someone struggle?

We want to understand the good, the hard, and everything in between.

Because you can find someone who checks every box on a job description and still get the hire wrong.

The best hire is someone who can do the work, believes in where the organization is going, connects with the people around them, and has room to grow once they get there.

That is what we are searching for.

When You Get One of Us, You Get All of Us

One of my favorite things about how we approach Direct Hire is that it is truly a team effort.

We have a saying at Intuitive: When you get one of us, you get all of us.

A search does not simply get handed to one recruiter who goes off and works on it alone. Our team comes together around the search. We talk about the business, the role, the personalities, the challenges, the market, and what we believe the right person looks like.

Everyone brings something different to the table.

That also means our clients are not getting access to one person's network. They are getting the collective relationships and networks our entire team has built over many years.

Some of our best candidates are people we already know. Others come through referrals from people who trust us enough to say, "You need to talk to this person."

That matters, especially when the best person for a role may not be actively looking for a new job.

We Stay Close to Both Sides

This is another part of the process that is important to me personally.

Even as CEO, I still love being close to the work.

I am often part of the initial client conversations. I collaborate with our recruiting team throughout searches. I frequently talk directly with candidates and hear their stories, what they want next, what they have learned along the way, and what matters to them beyond a title or salary.

That connection on both sides gives us context that you simply cannot get from a resume and a job description.

And sometimes it allows us to challenge the original thinking.

Maybe the person a client thought they needed is not actually the person who will solve the problem. Maybe a candidate's background does not look perfect on paper, but their experience and perspective make them exactly the right fit.

Our job is not just to search.

Our job is to listen, ask good questions, understand the market, connect the dots, and be willing to have honest conversations along the way.

This Work Is Personal

There is another reason this work means so much to me.

Most of the time we spend away from our families, friends, and the things we love is spent working. That is a pretty significant piece of someone's life, and I do not take that lightly.

When we help someone find work they genuinely enjoy, with people they respect, where they can grow and continue learning, the impact goes well beyond that person's career.

As a mom of three boys, ages 12 to 21, I think about this a lot.

I want my boys to know that finding work you care about is possible, even if it takes a few tries to get there. Careers are rarely a straight line. You try things. You learn. You pivot. You meet people who change your direction. And hopefully, along the way, you find work that gives something back to you while also setting you up for whatever comes next.

That is what I hope for my own kids.

And in a different way, it is what I hope for every candidate we work with.

From Specialists to Transformative Leaders

The range of Direct Hire searches our clients trust us with continues to grow.

Across technology, that includes Data & AI, Business Systems & ERP, Cloud, DevOps, Security, software development, and technology leadership. On the marketing side, we work across modern, revenue-focused roles including digital marketing, demand generation, product marketing, strategic marketing, and marketing leadership.

Sometimes our client needs the hard-to-find specialist who can come in and make an immediate impact.

Other times, they need the leader who will build the team, shape the strategy, and help take the organization somewhere it has not been before.

We love both.

And while Direct Hire is an area we are leaning into more than ever, it is also part of a broader talent model at Intuitive. We support clients through contract, contract-to-hire, and fractional talent as well, because the right answer is not always the same.

We start with what the business is trying to accomplish and build from there.

Getting the Hire Right Matters

Hiring is expensive.

But the bigger cost of the wrong hire is often the time, momentum, energy, and opportunity a team loses along the way.

That is why we care so much about getting underneath the surface of a search.

We want to know enough about your organization to represent it honestly in the market. We want candidates to understand what they are walking into. We want our clients to understand who they are hiring beyond the resume.

And we want both sides to be excited when they say yes.

That is what makes Direct Hire some of my favorite work we do at Intuitive.

There is nothing better than watching the moment happen when a client says, "That is our person," and a candidate says, "This is where I want to be."

If you have an important hire ahead of you, I would love to talk.

Bring us the role that matters. The one that is hard to fill, important to get right, or requires more than simply matching a resume to a job description.

Those are the searches we love. And they are where Intuitive does some of our very best work.
